Anya Yanovskaya, M.A., AMFT
Registered Associate Marrige and Family Therapist #71911
Supervised by Dr. Shashita Inamdar
Anya is a registered associate marriage and family therapist under the supervision of Dr. Shashita Inamdar, MD. She is passionate in working with couples, adults and children and helps clients explore obstacles and barriers standing in their way, learn the tools to gain new perspective, skills, greater understanding and insight–all catalysts to positive change for long-lasting success and happiness–and develop an action plan to create the life they envision for themselves. She provides a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients can feel free to explore thoughts, ideas, concerns, and feelings while being offered open, honest feedback and challenges toward growth.
Anya has special interest in working with couples to build healthier and happier relationships. Her philosophy when working with couples is to keep the balance in the therapy setting and provide safety for each partner to express their feelings and establish new ways of both talking with and hearing one another. Anya doesn’t believe people are broken or need to be “fixed”. Instead, they drift apart, start to feel burnt out, lose their connection with one another and give up hope on a life they once envisioned for themselves. Ineffective communication and negative cycles lead to feeling unheard which in turn makes it hard to listen closely to one another. Change and growth can be difficult, but individuals can be empowered to move forward, heal, and begin living a life they fully enjoy.
Anya has extensive experience in the care of children, adolescents and adults and has been involved in the mental health field since 2005 with her education, training and experience. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of San Diego, California, she obtained her master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, School of Professional Psychology. She has experience working in various settings–large agencies, schools and in private practice–which has provided her the knowledge and ability to effectively work with multi-cultural clients at all stages, from those who are experiencing short-term difficulty to others who are working through lifelong challenges.
